One person died after a Toyota Hi-Ace crashed along the N3 on Tuesday afternoon.
The minibus overturned, killing one person and injuring many others. 12 people sustained slight injuries, while three were uninjured.
The vehicle was heading towards Johannesburg when it allegedly suffered a left rear tyre blowout which caused the driver to lose control.
N3TC, the fire department and emergency services were on scene.
RTI officials redirected traffic flow, as both the fast and slow lane were closed while clean-up operations were carried out.
Emergency services worked tirelessly to stabilise the injured before transporting them safely to hospital.
“It was like a war zone out here, with injured screaming for help everywhere,” explained a tired Mr Raj Mahabeer from Sharaj Ambulance Services after the last of the injured was removed.
