Hunting for ghosts in Ladysmith

We’ve all seen the creepy movies and wondered about the existence of spiritual entities.
Some people believe implicitly in ghosts, while some scoff at the idea and others are not sure, keeping an open mind.
Well, Francois and Tasha Rossouw are definitely believers.
Not only that, but they are Ladysmith’s very own ghost hunters!
Francois claims to have been born with the ability to see what most of us cannot.
This power, he says, comes from his mother’s side of the family where, throughout the generations, there has been great ‘ability’ which has been passed on.
“Some may think it’s a gift, but it’s really more of a curse.
I see many things I don’t want to see; that are not normal to see.”
Francois also does palm readings.
He has been helping people rid their homes of unwanted spirits for roughly five years now, having studied and read a lot about the subject.
His partner Tasha says she helps Francois to draw the spirits closer so that he may communicate with them.
They can both feel and hear immediately when there is a presence.
Francois, however, claims to also be able to see and even smell ghosts.
They explain that there are many spirits in Ladysmith; a lot are wandering Murchison Street and the highways around town.
“Many of these spirits want to tell their story before they can move on to ‘the other side’.
“Some are just lost and confused,” says Francois.
He will speak to them so they can find peace.
Other ghosts, such as children, simply don’t know where to go.
They are confused and unsure of what happened, and need to find their way.
To help these spirits, Francois and Tasha go to people’s houses to check if a spirit is present and what type of spirit it is.
You get white spirits that are mostly harmless, and dark spirits that can be frightening.
Worst of all, this ghost-hunting couple tell of demons walking among us!
Once they have spoken to a spirit and found out why it is here, they can advise the people in the house as to what they should do.
Francois and Tasha warn that if you feel a presence, it wants to communicate with you.
If you ignore it, the presence will become stronger and may even become violent.
“If you do communicate with a spirit, you should never be aggressive towards it.
“Depending on how you treat it will affect how it reacts to you,” says Francois.
When asked if there is a place they are afraid of going to, they reply that it is better to try and not be scared, but rather keep calm.
However, there is one house in town that gives them the absolute willies, but out of respect, the location of this house will not be divulged.
“There is something very dark in that house.
“You can immediately feel the evil presence.”
Francois and Tasha also warn against playing with the ‘wrong things’, such as ouija boards.
“Many people think it’s a game, but if you call spirits and demons, they will come.
“It may not even be straight away, but in years to come.
“You need to remember that demons do not age.
“Never aggravate a demon or say it is stupid.
“This will just make it angry and it will become violent.
“No one should get involved with the darker side of things, such as Satanism.
You will only create your own demons.”
They tell of how they investigate houses at night (or ‘curtain time’), as spirits are more active in the dark hours.
However, they explain that it’s difficult to photograph ghosts, and recordings need to be made so that others may hear the spirits speaking. Even with this evidence, many people may still find this sort of thing hard to believe!
