Muti sheep found in CBD

They refused to touch the bags or the sheep

A bewildered sheep was found wandering along Lyell Street on Monday morning.
What attracted attention to the animal was the fact that it had a white sheet wrapped around its abdomen.
On closer inspection, it turned out that the sheet was being used to hold two bags. The one was a clear plastic bag which appeared to have rubbish inside it, including an empty milk carton and bread wrappers. The other bag, which was a blue plastic carry bag, was filled with muddy sticks, five cent coins and bits of rubbish.
When a Gazette journalist looked in the bag, onlookers explained that it was filled with muti. .
According to the onlookers, the sheep was being used to transport muti…
The sheep was carrying away someone’s bad luck and whoever took the sheep in would ‘inherit’ the bad luck in the muti bags.
Normally, goats or chickens are used in the ceremony and the use of a sheep is considered highly unusual.
The animal was taken away by municipal pound officials.
