Umzinyathi Councillors suspect ‘foul play’ over stuck motions
Speaker Bongani Chambule argued that "it was totally out of order to have motions taking long to reach the council."
At a council meeting held at Umzinyathi District Council chamber on September 27 the Municipal Manager, Mdu Mngomezulu was in a’ frying pan’ when he was asked to explain on how certain motions were not tabled during the last three council meetings.
Mr Mngomezulu told the council that some motions got ‘stuck’ in the system. He said the Cooperate Service had problems with the system for the past five months. Councillor Zulu asked for clarification what the Municipal Manager meant by saying the motions got ‘stuck’.
The Speaker of the Council, Bongani Chambule argued that “it was totally out of order to have motions taking long to reach the council.”
He urged councillors to report motions accordingly and stated that issues raised outside council will no be entertained. Most of the IFP councillors were suspecting a ‘foul play’ but insisting that the Municipal Manager to issue an investigation. ‘Some of these motions that were not tabled had the rumour about money disappeared at the Umzinyathi District Council.
