Angry residents thank municipality?

A sign has been put into the massive sinkhole which has formed in Farquhar Road outside Klipriver High School. The story was run in last week’s Ladysmith Gazette and the sign was found this morning.
It is not an official sign, although it attributes itself to the local municipality and does a pretty good job of making the hole visible to all using the road. There is a wooden pole in the hole, with styrofoam taped to it. On the styrofoam is a notice which sarcastically reads “Proudly brought to you by the Ladysmith/Emnambithi Municipality”.
New tar was laid along this road recently, but the huge hole appeared nevertheless. The hole is right after a speed hump at the entrance to the school, which makes it difficult for people to see, especially at night. The hole causes problems in the morning when traffic is busy, with people takin
g their children to school and driving to work. It is so big that motorists are forced to swerve out of the way to avoid damaging their vehicles or getting stuck in the hole.
“The sign is clear evidence of just how much faith the community has in council when it comes to taking care of our roads!” quipped a passing motorist. The Ladysmith Gazette has received numerous phone calls regarding the sign.
