Samaritans in line for award
Six women have been nominated for Khulisa's 'Community Achievers Awards.
Psychologist, Paul Bushell said recognising the unsung heroes of the community is the purpose of Khulisa Midlands’ establishment of its ‘Community Achievers Awards’ this year.
Six women from the Midlands area have been nominated for this award.
The nominees for the award met with the panel of five independent judges at an informal ‘meet and greet’ breakfast on Monday morning. There, the judges were given opportunity to pose questions to the nominees.
The judges are Barbara Elliot (chairperson of Lions Newcastle), Veneshrie Chetty (marketing manager at Blackrock Casino), Emelia Lubbe (veteran social worker) and Newcastle Advertiser editor, Reveshni Moodley. A fifth judge from Durban was unable to attend the function.
The gala evening takes place on November 26. Mr Bushell explained the winner of the Community Achievers Award will be based on their involvement with a project where Khulisa played a role this year, their commitment and contribution to it, the change they achieved and against what odds.
