Abused Great Danes removed from owner
The dogs were found to be starving, without any food or water
Two female Great Danes were recently removed from a home after they were found to be severely abused. The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) received a tip-off from a member of the public and on inspection, the dogs were found to be starving, without any food or water. They were so weak when league workers arrived that they were unable to stand; they had to be lifted into the vehicle.
Arriving at the kennels, they also had to be lifted out of the bakkie.
Once ‘unloaded’, they were given food and water which they wolfed down with great gusto.
These beautiful dogs are skin and bone and full of ticks.
They will be fed and dipped with great care, and will be kept under observation.
The dogs’ owners have received warnings in the past and failure to care for their pets has resulted in the Great Danes being removed from their property. The owners will also receive a fine for negligence and abuse.
“This kind of behaviour is just disgusting. People who cannot look after their animals should not have animals at all,” said an outraged Annamarie Koen from the AACL.
