Rape cases seem to be on the increase

Three men have recently been arrested for rape.

Rape is an ongoing scourge which plagues society, with women and children falling victim to the dark desires of certain men.

Recently the police have arrested three men for rape.

In the first case, a 49-year-old man was taken into custody after sexually abusing an eight year old girl from June until September this year, in Xaba Stand Blaauwbosch.

The perpetrator is expected to appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s court soon and further police investigations continue.

In the second incident, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) are investigating a case of sexual assault where a 25-year-old man attacked a 31-year-old woman.

The suspect has been taken into custody and further investigations are underway.

In the final case, a man was arrested for raping an 84-year-old woman.

According to Captain Shooz Magudulela, the SAPS spokesperson, it is believed that the suspect presumed his victim would not be able to identify him, due to her being mentally unstable.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court and further police investigations continue.

Victims of rape are urged to contact the SAPS on 10111 or the Newcastle Crisis Centre on 034 315 3389.
