Three suspects appeared in court on charges of common assault. They are suspected of assaulting and robbing a young man whom they forcefully took six beers and R200 from in the early hours of October 27. It is alleged that the complainant was walking to Sithembile with a friend when the six men approached them near JoJo Tanks. One started assaulting him with a spade, hitting him on his hands. The suspects ran and hid in one of the houses in Sithembile, where police recovered three quarts of beer and one empty bottle. Three of the suspects appeared in the Glencoe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 28 and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case was postponed to November 26 for trial.
