New upgrades promised for Paradise C

Upgrades will include new fencing and a security guard.

In coming weeks, the Paradise C Grounds will be the site of new developments.

This follows inquiries as to why the fence surrounding the grounds was removed late last week.

Head of Parks and Recreation, Vish Govender said brand new fencing would be erected this week, with further developments this month to include a full-time security guard and upgrades to the ablution block and team building.

Cricket guru, Amos Cassimjee said local organisations were currently in talks with municipal representatives.

In the past, the sporting grounds were the topic of much controversy, with cricket bodies claiming they had been sidelined ahead of sports such as soccer.

This, coupled with the abysmal state of these facilities, caused a furore.

While sporting bodies seem pleased they are finally being taken seriously, attempts to gain clear answers from authorities on cricket facilities and their future were fruitless.
