Shining a little light on World Aids Day

The candle-lighting was done to not only commemorate World Aids Day but also raise awareness for this disease.

Mayor Vincent Madlala and Aids counsellor Mr Sarjoo lit the first official candle in commemoration of World Aids Day in Ladysmith on Saturday.

The candle was lit in the mayor’s office. Mr Sarjoo is the chairman of the Aids Action & Support Group, as well as being an educator, a counsellor and a therapist. The candle-lighting was done to not only commemorate World Aids Day but also raise awareness for this disease.

In doing so, they gave thanks to those who have contributed to understanding the deadly virus, as well as paying tribute to those who have lost their lives and those who are currently affected / infected by the HIV virus.
