IFP bares its teeth

Inkatha Freedom Party launched three of their branches in Sithembile community hall.

istory was made in Sithembile on Sunday with the Inkatha Freedom Party launching three of their branches in ward three, Sithembile and Stratford farm, and in ward five, Mzomusha and Lindelani.

This comes after the IFP won nearly 45% of the vote during the Ward 3 by-election in November. The IFP has since escalated its presence in the  Sithembile area with many people joining the party, including those members whom during the by-election, said they were only going to support the IFP in order for it to win the ward, because they were not happy with the ANC, and candidate Lungile Mbhele subsequently won the poll.

A joyful Sunday it was for the IFP members as they were treated to lunch in celebrating and honouring all the people who voted and supported the party during the by-elections. Councillor Bongiwe Mbatha explained that ‘this is our way of expressing our appreciation to those people, especially in Sithembile’.

“The IFP appreciates what the people of Sithembile did for the party, because it is through them that we were able to penetrate Sithembile.”

She  added that, “It makes me happy the relationship we had did not end after the by-election.

“The same people who were with us then are still with us now, and have shown themselves to be committed to building the party – they were not only there for the elections.”

Main structures, Women’s Brigades and Youth Brigades from all three branches were announced, and were all welcomed by other IFP officials from Msinga and Nquthu.

Members were advised to work according to the party’s  rules, and to ‘work hard to make life better for all’.
