Not a happy new year for these residents

Upset residents say they see this as unfair as they have to pay rates

RESIDENTS at the Eytendeni area of New Location in Bhekuzulu have decided to take matters into their own hands after having lost all hope of receiving help from the municipality.

According to these residents, the drains that were initially made to drain away water along the streets became blocked by waste during the storms in December last year. As a result of the drains being blocked, the water now causes messy puddles all along their streets.

Residents say that they contacted the municipality numerous times for assistance but to no avail and so they decided to try and solve the problem themselves.

The upset residents say that they see this is unfair as they have to pay rates but they do not see the service delivery.

The Vryheid Herald was not able to get any comment from the municipal department that deals with community service issues at the time of going to print.
