Sewage woes in Carbineer Road

Water has collected to form a sewage swamp which takes up almost half the road

Sewage has started flowing again in Carbineer Road. It is streaming out from the same spot where there has been an on/off problem for months now.

Roughly halfway up the road, opposite the now blocked off Black Rock entrance, is where the sewage is flowing out at a rapid rate.  At the bottom of the hill, water has collected to form a sewage swamp which takes up almost half the road.

The foul stink is terrible and motorists driving past say they roll up their windows to try and escape the brunt of the stench. The smell is also affecting houses nearby. One resident said that, “It is just disgusting! The smell is nauseating and the fact that this is an ongoing problem is just ridiculous. uThukela needs to fix this problem once and for all!”

The municipality has been contacted and the story will be updated once comment has been received from them.
