On a winning streak
They were scheduled to play five games, many against teams that they do not usually play during their seasonal matches

Treverton College finished their 2013 Cricket season on a high, with two team members each making over 1 000 runs for the school and other members enjoying 50 dismissals against opposing teams. The final achievement was six 1st team members were selected for the 2013 SALGA U19 team.
Memories of success and with considerable experience, the Treverton team approached the annual Alex Cricket week in Pietermaritzburg with confidence and enthusiasm and it paid off!
They were scheduled to play five games, many against teams that they do not usually play during their seasonal matches.
Treverton’s first game at the tournament was against host Alex, when they lost the toss. Alex elected to bat but this did not faze the Treverton bowlers, and Alex’s bowlers were all out for 130 in the 36th over. The outstanding bowlers were Cois Buys with two wickets for three balls and Captain Don Paterson, with 2 wickets for 26 in 8 overs. Treverton won the game by reaching the run target in the 30th over.
Inspired by their first impressive win, they faced Wartburg on the second day, when they bowled first once more. Luke Richardson and Andrew Tilbury took 3 wickets each to destroy the top order, before Ivan Van Zuydam claimed 4 for 4 to restrict Wartburg to 75 runs. Treverton enjoyed a 7-wicket win ably assisted by batsman Devon O´Brian in which he scored 20 runs from six balls.
At last, on the third day, Treverton got to bat first when they played Cumberwood and enjoyed a fantastic victory of a win by 230 runs. Outstanding play came from Andrew Tilbury, who scored his first century and was finally out for 108 runs off 101 balls and bowling by Cois Buys, and Brent Kennard.
On the fourth day the tournament changed format to a 20-20s event with each team playing two matches. Once again, Treverton paced their traditional rivals from across the Mooi River when they met Weston for the fourth time in the season. Weston was restricted to 100 for 9 in their 20 overs, with Cois Buys in the wickets again with 3 for 19 and Don Paterson taking 2 for 2 in 2 overs. Craig Warren anchored the innings with 38 off just 36 balls, and Treverton won by 4 wickets.
Treverton won the toss and elected to bat, amassing an outstanding 176 for 7 thanks to a brilliant 65 off 35 balls, supported by Andrew Tilbury who made 34. Andrew put Lillyfontein on the back foot immediately with 2 wickets for just 2 runs in 3 overs and Don returning figures of 2 for 12 in 4 overs. Lillyfontein were 76 all out, leaving Treverton with a 100-run win, and a perfect, 5 out of 5 wins in the week.
College teacher Richard Lennox is the first team coach and was assisted by staff members Kyle Larkan and Emmanual Mkize at the Alex Week Tournament.
