The dynamic new face of CANSA

Estella Naicker is ready to fight tooth and nail in the battle against cancer.

Dynamic she is indeed – armed with a golden heart and a sharp mind – Estella Naicker is ready to fight tooth and nail in the battle against cancer, in her new job as the Community Mobiliser for CANSA in the Amajuba Region.
Estella Naicker, a former resident of Dundee, has worked as an investigative journalist for the past ten years.
When asked why she left the fast-paced realms of journalism to take up this worthy cause, she simply replied, with a twinkle in her eye, that her love for the community and the burning need to help people spurred her in this direction.
This is great news for cancer patients throughout Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal, as Estella is readily available to assist.
She believes this is not just a job, but a calling.
Estella also expressed how excited she was regarding the Shavathon that will be hosted in Dundee on March 1 at Battle Creek Spur, in conjunction with Guinea Fowl and the Courier from 9am onwards.
She said, “The positive vibe and hyped atmosphere at the Shavathons is always totally amazing and encouraging, and the event will surely be successful.”
The annual Shavathon is hosted to create awareness of the seriousness of the pandemic, and to raise much-needed funds for CANSA.
“CANSA, a non-profit organisation, was founded to provide comprehensive care to cancer survivors. It also provides individual counselling, specialist care of wounds as well as the provision of medical equipment.
“Most importantly it provides support to the victims by being their anchor during these trying times,” said Estella.
Estella also made an appeal to people interested in this cause to become volunteers.
The only requirements to become a volunteer are passion and the willpower to drive this project.
Cancer does not discriminate – should you be the next victim it claims, where to from there? What to do thereafter?
Estella also hopes to establish a CANSA liaison committee in Dundee, and further encourages people to join forces in the battle against cancer.
