Massive hole after burst pipe
Workers went to fix the pipe but have since failed to close up the hole they dug, which extends into the road

Residents of Hillview Road have lived with a massive hole in the road for over a month after a pipe burst.
The pipe burst on December 24 last year and uThukela was called. Workers went to fix the pipe but have since failed to close up the hole they dug, which extends into the road, making it difficult for motorists to use this part of the road.
Residents claim they have called uThukela on numerous occasions, but no information as to when road repairs will take place has been received. During the fixing of the pipe, residents say that palm trees growing over the pipe were ripped up and damaged. “I grew these palm trees myself and they have been ruined. I replanted two of them, but two more have been so badly damaged that there is nothing I can do to save them,” says one resident.
uThukela has failed to comment.
