Teary eyes and heavy hearts filled SAVF Dundee Aged Care (Eventide) as staff members and residents bade farewell to Nomusa Buthelezi, who has retired after 25 years of dedicated service to Eventide.
Nomusa, a woman of loyalty and integrity, began her career as a general assistant at Eventide in April 1988. She has since touched the hearts of all who came into contact with her. Mrs Karen Botha, Manager of Eventide, described her as ‘people of this decent calibre are few and far between’.
She also stated that her helpfulness extended way beyond her job description, and for this she showed her gratitude by hosting a celebration in Nomusa’s honour. The celebrations comprised of rendering beautiful gifts of crockery to Nomusa, wishing her well and laying a delicious feast of pastries and sweet delicacies in her honour.
Nomusa expressed her immense gratitude and described her years at Eventide as ‘very nice and enjoyable’. She thanked Mrs Botha, residents of Eventide and staff for all their support throughout the years.
The celebrations ended in grand style with singing and dancing, and Nomusa welcomed retirement with a colourful and entertaining traditional Zulu dance. She said she can’t wait to spend her retirement resting in Nquthu in the company of her family and grandchildren.
