Windsor celebrates a century of education
Lots of past pupils were present, along with family and friends from around town, and even guests from out of the country
Windsor Secondary School’s ‘Centenary Celebrations Weekend’ started off on a romantic note on Friday night with a Centennial Valentine’s Banquet being held at Windsor Castle (otherwise known as the school hall).
A three-course dinner was served, and the musical entertainment was expertly provided by the band ‘Indigo’ (ex-SAPS band). Lots of past pupils were present, along with family and friends from around town, and even guests from out of the country!
Then, on Saturday morning, the programme continued with a parade through the town. The parade, which was led by the SAPS brass band, saw schools in Ladysmith taking part.
From there, the action moved to the Windsor Secondary School grounds, where there were fair stalls and entertainment aplenty. Energetic athletes set off at 5pm on the Emnambithi Striders half-marathon and 5km fun-walk, and dancers got to boogie at the 7pm bhangra. A dazzling fireworks display ended things off at about 9pm.
