The road is crumbling

REMEMBER the old song “There’s a hole in my bucket”? Well it seems locals might have to sing the same tune when driving up South Street just as one heads up to Mascor from town, although this time it will be “in the road” rather than a mere bucket.

The hole seems to have been caused by the huge amount of rain that Vryheid received between December and January. As a result of these rains, the river beneath this road may have flooded, causing the tar to crumble.

Although some red-tape has been put around the area to warn motorists and pedestrians of this danger, it seems as though nothing more has been done to fix the problem.

Locals are warned to be on the lookout when walking or driving near this area.
