Michaelis pupils brave the water

ON FRIDAY, February 21, Michaelis School held their annual school gala.

Spirits were high as every single Ente and Pelikan pupil braved the water and kicked and pulled with all their might!

It was wonderful to see such fantastic sportsmanship, pupils cheering and shouting even for the last swimmer in and congratulating each other although they were in opposing teams.

We would like to congratulate all the learners, we are so proud that every single one of you took part in at least one event, especially those who are still learning, you were very brave!

As all contests go, the end has to result in a winner and the winning team for 2014 were Ente, well done to all our little ducks!

Pelikan nevertheless did not walk away empty handed, they were awarded the Spirit Trophy.

Our Junior Victrix and Victor Ludorum were Daniela Vonkeman and Karl Fourie and our senior trophy winners were Kirsten Hellberg and Ivan Tschirpig.

Congratulations to all of you!

We would also like to congratulate Kirsten on her excellent swim in backstroke, resulting in the only record broken for the day.

Thank you so much to Vryheid High School for the use of their swimming pool. Kirsten & Bianca Hellberg took part in the Sterkfontein Dam Challenge on Saturday and they both completed a swim of 1500m.

Fantastic, girls! We are proud of you!
