Vryheid High hosts action-packed weekend of school sport

Vryheid High hosted a weekend of rugby, hockey and Fast 5 netball action.

It was another action-packed sporting week for Vryheid High School (VHS), with our learners representing the school on the golf course, cricket field, rugby field, hockey turf and netball courts.

Golf team finishes league season

Last Tuesday, our golf team travelled to Dundee for their final league match of the season. The team enjoyed a good season and gained valuable experience throughout the league. We are proud of their commitment and look forward to seeing their continued growth and improvement next season.

Cricket teams face tough opposition

Our U/15 cricket boys also faced Dundee, but unfortunately lost their match. On Thursday, the girls’ cricket team faced Hoërskool Pionier. VHS scored 91/4, while Pionier reached 92/0, securing a 10-wicket victory.

VHS hosts weekend tournament

On Friday, VHS kicked off an exciting weekend of sport with our 7s Rugby, Hockey & Fast 5 Netball Tournament. The rugby action got the weekend underway on Friday, followed by hockey and Fast 5 netball on Saturday.

Despite the cold weather, the tournament delivered excellent competition, school spirit and sportsmanship. We sincerely thank the members of the public who braved the cold to support the teams throughout the weekend. A special word of appreciation goes to our sponsors, whose generous support
helped make the tournament possible.

A huge thank you also goes to the VHS staff, who took on the tournament as a team and worked tirelessly to make the weekend a success. Your hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated!
