No cold feet this winter
Ms Mohutsiwa started this project by encouraging her friends to buy school shoes instead of presents for the children. In 2013, she delivered 50 pairs of shoes and didn’t want the project to end there.
The seasons are changing and the winter is slowly approaching. Not everyone will be able to hide from the cold, but Nokuthula Nene and Samu Mohutsiwa changed a few lives for the change of seasons.
On March 10, these two friends distributed 128 pairs of shoes to pupils of Moy Primary School in Dannhauser. They have been collecting the shoes since the beginning of the year.
Ms Mohutsiwa started this project by encouraging her friends to buy school shoes instead of presents for the children. In 2013, she delivered 50 pairs of shoes and didn’t want the project to end there.
This year, Ms Nene joined in on the action, and together with Ms Mohutsiwa, collected school shoes from their close friends, Facebook friends, colleagues and even a few friends abroad.
A 100 pairs of school socks have also been collected and handed to the children. Ms Mohutsiwa is a former pupil of Moy Primary School and she knows what effect a simple gift such as school shoes can have on a pupil’s enthusiasm to learn.
These two friends are planning to expand this project in 2015 and have already started collecting shoes for next year. They believe in kindness and adding some sunshine to all the people around them.
