Vryheid Landbou High School

WASTE management: We manage waste, because we are the ones who create it.

We love the earth, cherish the environment and care about our future. Therefore the waste management team at Vryheid Landbou works passionately towards a cleaner environment.

They are preparing a worm farm (organic waste and earth worms), using a scientific approach.

They prepare compost and ways of packaging. Colour coded recycling boxes were made for the hostel and school and since the learners have joined the globe project, they are aiming for an international platform since this membership enables them to participate on an international level in environmental issues.

Sport: On March 15, Landbou participated in the sports festival at Eshowe.

Rugby: Landbou’s first rugby side made us proud with an excellent performance. Their spirits are high, since they won five out of six matches played.

They won their first match of the season against Vaalpark 58-5. Thereafter, they beat Pongola Academy 36-33.

At the Eshowe Sports Festival they won the first three matches 10-5 against Felixton, 3-0 John Ross, 29-0 Richards Bay Christian School.

They lost the final match against Vryheid High School 8-0.

Well done, boys! You are doing Landbou proud.

Netball: Vryheid Landbou’s netball team also participated at Eshowe. They won 8 matches and lost one.

They won the match against Richards Bay Christian School 10-0, beat St Catherine’s 15-1, won the match against Richem 18-3 and lost against Eshowe 2nd team 2-5.

Hockey: The hockey team played nine matches of which they lost five, drew three and won one match against St Catherine’s 1-0 – their first goal of the season.
