Michaelis Primary School – Grade 2 goes on safari

GRADE 2 goes on safari: On Tuesday, March 11, an excited bunch of Grade 2’s clambered into the school kombi, Ithala bound, to go on safari!

Once at Ithala, everyone boarded the game viewing vehicle for the much anticipated game drive.

We were privileged to see many of God’s beautiful creations that day, including black and white rhino!

At lunch time we stopped for a picnic at one of the lovely picnic sites, after which we headed back home.

We would like to thank Pete and Celia Ruinard, as well as Joseph, for a wonderful day of learning and experiencing our magnificent wild life first hand.

Interschool gala: Last Friday got off to quite an icy and windy start, as all the swimmers who had to brave the cold pool water would well know!

After a few hours, however, the heavens cleared and we were blessed with a beautiful, sunny day.

Michaelis hosted Lüneburg and Wittenberg for our annual interschool gala. All the swimmers gave it their all and quite a number of records were broken. Kirsten Hellberg from Michaelis not only broke three records, but also took home the Senior Victrix Ludorum trophy.

Records were also broken by Phillip Thiele from Lüneburg, Leah Vonkeman from Michaelis and Ivan Tschirpig from Michaelis.

Two records were broken in the relays, both by Michaelis!

Our Junior Victrix and Victor Ludorum were Daniela Vonkeman from Michaelis and Holger Gevers from Lüneburg.

Andi Niebuhr from Lüneburg took home the Senior Victor Ludorum trophy.

Congratulations to all the swimmers on a job well done!

We would like to thank Vryheid High School for the use of their pool and all the parents for their support and hard work.

Mudman: This past weekend some of our learners once again took part in a Mudman challenge, this time at Midmar Dam.

Leah Vonkeman & Kayla Olivier came fifth in their age group, well done girls!

We would like to thank all the enthusiastic and dedicated learners who sacrificed their Sunday to take part in these challenges.

We would also like to thank Mr van der Walt and the parents who made it possible for them, by transporting and accompanying the children to these events.
