Paramedics visit Little Egerton on Careers Day

Little Egerton’s Grade 1s had a Careers Day on Thursday. The children went to school dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. Many were dressed as doctors, while others wanted to be teachers or race car drivers.

Nikkita Maharaj wants to be a paramedic when she grows up. When asked why she thinks this is the job for her, she said, “Paramedics are the first ones to help injured people. They can save lives.” Her family supports her choice and she had a little ER24 jumpsuit made for the day.

For added excitement, ER24 went to the school to show all the children what sort of work they do. ER24 paramedics Ziyaad Warasally and Thabo Ngcobo were there to explain what their work includes and they even showed the little ones the siren and flashing lights. Ethan Reddy pretended like he had hurt himself and the paramedics showed what they would do in a situation like that. Afterwards, the children got to see inside the ambulance and asked all kinds of questions!
