NSPS Monitor Camp a ‘muddy’ success

NSPS Monitor Camp

After two long hours we eventually arrived at Greystone Camp Site. We were all greeted and shown to our huts. Then, horror of horrors, we had to hand in our cell phones! After being divided into three teams and getting to know our leaders better, we went for a cool swim.

We proceeded to do some challenges with ladders and planks with dirty, gross water beneath us.We then went to the hall to do other activities. After supper the losing singers had to wash up dishes and off we went to bed. That was only the first day!

On Saturday after breakfast we faced the tree challenge. The brave ones coped but some couldn’t because of their fear of height. The obstacle course was tackled and lunch enjoyed. Then the highlight of the day – THE TUNNEL OF MUD!! It was the greatest thing ever.

We got mud and dirty water all over us and the greatest victory was climbing out the other end. Afterwards we went indoors for trick questions, charades and fencing. Supper followed but we had to feed each other in dead silence! We then went to our huts to sleep (sort of).

On Sunday we woke up and did some PT. We packed, showered and ate breakfast. It was sad leaving Greystone but we had to go back to Newcastle. One thing I learnt is that there is a lot of compromising in a team and it is the greatest way to success and I will cherish that for the rest of my life.
