Toddler perishes in shack blaze
Shack blaze was started by a candle - believed to have fallen over,

A six-month-old baby burnt to death while she was sleeping in a mud house in Lindelane, Sibongile.
According to her mother Ayanda Zulu, the baby, Samukelo Zulu, was with her 16-year-old daughter when the fire broke out at about 8pm.
Zulu said during the incident she was at work, and was phoned by one of her family members to say that her baby has died as a result of a blaze started by a candle.
Miss Zulu said she was told that her 16-year-old daughter was not in the house at the time. The Umzinyathi fire fighters were called to stop the fire, and the baby was found with severe burn wounds to her head.
The family was provided with two blankets.
All that was in the house was burnt, including her daughter’s school uniform. The matter was reported to Endumeni Mayor Thulani Mahaye and Speaker S’duduzo Mdluli. Community worker Mrs Khumalo was commended on her wonderful job in contacting relevant stakeholders, including the Courier.
