Community paints Factory Plaza pink for cancer awareness

Just short of 300 people joined the breast cancer awareness walk.

Hundreds of community members gathered at Factory Plaza on Saturday morning (October 17) for its annual Cancer Fun Run/Walk, turning the area pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

“Almost 300 people chose to show up, stand together and be part of something that reaches far beyond a single morning,” read a statement from Factory Plaza.

It continued: “To every single person who entered, walked, ran, wore pink, cheered from the sidelines or supported this cause in any way, thank you! Every entry represented a choice to care, to support and to make a difference.” Factory Plaza also extended its heartfelt thanks to every business that joined hands with the organisers and helped make the event possible.

“To the businesses along Kirkland, Ayliff, Church and Bridge streets that embraced the spirit of the event and helped bring our community together, we appreciate you more than words can say.

“Your willingness to stand alongside us, support the cause and help create something meaningful is what makes community events like this so special. You gave your time, your support and your hearts to a cause that touches so many lives.”

“To our Newcastle breast cancer community, please know this: you are not alone.”

Factory Plaza said the support shown was a beautiful reminder that there were people who cared, people who were willing to stand beside those affected and a community that wanted to make a difference.

“The impact of this support reaches further than many people will ever realise.

“It is a privilege to call you our comrades, colleagues and partners in this fight. We may each play a different role, but today reminded us that when we stand together, we can create something truly powerful.

“From all of us at Factory Plaza, thank you for helping us turn awareness into action, kindness into support and a morning of pink into a message of hope.”

Funds support the local community

The funds raised by Factory Plaza are distributed within the Newcastle breast cancer community and used to help people in our local community.

“We also respect people’s privacy and sometimes choose not to share their names or personal details publicly to protect their identity.”
