MLS signs petition to ‘Bring Back Our Girls’

All learners from grade four to seven signed the petition to pledge their support

A special assembly was held at ML Sultan Primary School on May 23 to heed the call by the Department of Education to motivate all learners and educators to sign the petition to Support the “Bring Back Our Girls” campaign.
About seven weeks ago, the Boko Haram kidnapped 230 school girls from the dormitory at the Chibok Government School in Nigeria.
To date, their whereabouts are unknown.
The learners of ML Sultan Estcourt enlightened the assembly about human rights, and spoke out against violence, sexism, gender inequality discrimination and oppression.
Posters were also displayed as they pronounced the declaration, which highlighted not only human rights but also the rights of women in particular.
All learners from grade four to seven signed the petition to pledge their support.
The Principal, Mr DH Zuma and all educators also signed the petition at assembly to demonstrate their support to the “Bring Back Our Girls” campaign. We pray that our voices are heard and that these girls are returned safely to their families.
