DJS Soul Buddyz are on the move

Some projects need funding, and clubs are dependant on donations/fundraising.

The Soul Buddyz clubs are a national initiative of Soul City.
The aim of Soul Buddyz Clubs is to uplift our children. They are the adults of tomorrow, and Soul Buddyz empowers them with knowledge of how to become a better citizen in developing a sense of responsibility and caring for each other, the community, animals and nature.
Some projects need funding, and clubs are dependant on donations/fundraising.
The DJS Soul Buddyz club was in the very fortunate position to receive a substantial donation from Shanduka Mine. Projects and activities done by the Soul Buddyz include:
· Donated blankets to the SPCA.
· Donated new blankets to less privileged grannies.
· Held a birthday party for a boy who was badly burnt and never had a birthday party in his life.
· Did fencing and cleaning of a vegetable garden for an elderly lady who is wheelchair-bound.
· Reading for small children on Mandela Day.
· Held a girls’ informative morning and concentrated on teenage pregnancies.
· Held various discussions about bullying.
· Donated books to two rural schools.
· Arranged for an ex-Buddy to attend a school after he left for Gauteng in Grade 7 and then returned.
· Donated money for the feeding scheme at the hostel.
· Donated money for school clothes for the less privileged.
· Donated dog food to our furry friends.
· Arranged for shelter, clothes and food for a household after they lost almost everything due to ongoing rain in the area.
At DJS Soul Buddyz they concentrate on personality development and bullying.
Other projects that they are planning to do soon include a girls’ morning, involving other schools, on HIV and teenage pregnancies; a boys’ morning, involving other schools, on HIV and relationships; sustainable vegetable gardens at rural schools; donating blankets to less fortunate children; donating food to the SPCA.
The DJS Soul Buddyz club earned diamond status in 2013, and attended the Provincial Congress which was held in Pongola during January 2014 as one of the top ten clubs in the district.
They aim to go a little bit further during 2014, and are working hard to be able to attend the National Congress. Some of the above projects would not be possible if it was not for the tremendous financial assistance that they have received from Shanduka Coal. The money received was given to them to further help in the community, and not particularly for own use.
With this in mind the Soul Buddyz club would like to thank Shanduka for their assistance in extending their hands to be able to help in the community.
Thank you Shanduka!
