Prison convoy smash closes road

According to sources, a police vehicle overturned at the nine-mile robot (P483 Madadeni), with 10 prisoners inside.

Journalists on scene have confirmed the cause of the collision, which happened while police were escorting prisoners. The K9 vehicle was leading the convoy. Apparently, the vehicles were following too closely and at speed, so when they collided, the rear van flipped and another smashed into it from the back.

According to police, injuries were not bad and all prisoners were accounted for.

Those injured are currently being treated.  There is a heavy police presence, with some armed with shotguns. A large crowd has assembled, and there are reports that fights are starting to break out.
