Damaged cable causes robots to flash red

Public Safety have been in discussion with the contractor to find a solution in respect of the delays, and the problem should be fixed today (Monday)

Motorists are still  fuming about the robots that have not been working for days now at the intersection of Newcastle and Helpmekaar Road. Road-users say it is chaotic during peak-hour traffic, as people rush to work or back home.

When a Ladysmith Gazette journalist asked Public Safety chief Mr Mahendra Sewpersad for comment, he responded that: “The robot cable in Helpmeekar Road was damaged by the contractor, hence the robots are flashing red.” He added that the cable will be fixed today (Monday).

Traffic officers are on duty in the morning and afternoon during peak-hour traffic.
