To add to the excitement, clothes and props of previous concerts were sorted out last week. The children of the Foundation Phase couldn’t believe their luck when they could pick fancy dress costumes to play with. Some fantasized about being gypsy dancers or fairies, while others were sailors or soldiers. This was definitely a day to remember.

Cricket: Last Tuesday, our u/11 team played against Michaelis. Batting second, NRS scored 60 runs for 10 wickets, but lost the match by nine runs. Our best batsman was Thinus Loots and our best bowler was Owen Morgenrood, who took five wickets for 30 runs.

For their match on Thursday, the u/13 team travelled to Pongola. NRS batted second and scored 73 runs for nine wickets, but lost the match by 65 runs. Our best batsmen were Joshua Stride with 21 runs and Joshua Stoltenkamp with 14, not out. Joshua Stride was also our best bowler, taking four wickets for 36 runs.

Soccer: On Wednesday, August 20, NRS hosted the second soccer tournament of the season for u/11 and u/13 players. Six schools participated, namely NRS; Glencoe; Volksrust; Dundee; Nardini and Paulpietersburg. Of the four games that our u/13 team played, they won two and lost two. Our u/11 team played two games. They lost the first one against Dundee and drew the second one against Nardini. It was a very successful tournament which was enjoyed by all.

Dates to remember:

Thursday, September 4: u/13 cricket against Michaelis (home)

September 5 to 6: Clivia Show in NRS Hall
