Local MMA club leaves their mark

Newcastle’s Tiger Crane Mixed Martial Arts Club is making great strides in the MMA world.

At the Africa Fight League event in Empangeni earlier this year, four club members competed, and their performance was of such a high standard that three of the matches were broadcast on Black Belt TV’s “Best of Africa” programme recently.

Transnat Coach Lines recently donated kits to the members of the club.

Sensei Frik Willemse, the coach, said getting support from a company like Transnat was an honour.

“Transnat is a company that started off locally on a small scale, but through hard work, dedication and commitment, became a great success. At Tiger Crane we want to follow the same model, and achieve greatness through persistent hard work. Already three of our members are preparing to compete at AFL 22 in Ballito at the end of October.

For a small club like Tiger Crane, this would not be financially possible without generous local support,” Sensei Willemse said.
