THE Grade 11 pupils had the privilege of attending a Wool School hosted by the BKB.

They were honoured to be coached and taught by Oom Jannie Hendriks, the most experienced man in this field. Oom Jannie was assisted by his team from the BKB. The course took place at Landbou from September 9 to 10.

The learners had thorough lectures on wool classification and the correct way to shear a sheep. Furthermore, they learnt that the wool is classified by the length and that the most valuable wool comes from the side of a sheep. They were astonished to learn that not a shave of wool goes to waste, and delighted to discover that there are many career opportunities in this field of agriculture!

The course included one practical examination and two theoretical assessments. We are proud to confirm that every learner achieved high marks and Oom Jannie was very impressed.

Each participating pupil will receive an accredited certificate and the marks will be part of the Grade 11 year mark in their agricultural subject. We would like to thank Oom Jannie and his team for the honour of having them share their expertise with us.

SCA: Here at Landbou, we have a strong SCA group under the leadership of Mrs S Valentine. On Sunday, September 14, the SCA did an outreach to the Nonkululeko Children’s Home.

They arrived in full spirit and shared the donations and gifts amongst the young children. The SCA members interacted with the kiddies and spent the entire afternoon singing songs of praise. The highlight of the afternoon was the numerous games they played. This surely was an awesome and devoted afternoon.

Thank you, guys!

MBL: The MBL team for 2015 was announced and we wish you guys the best of luck. It is awesome to know that you guys live up to high standards and will lead your fellow learners with grace.

Tentpegging: On Saturday, September 20, a big event is taking place here at Landbou.

The Tentpegging tournament promises to be exciting, as teams from several provinces will participate. The event starts at 8:00am and we cordially invite the public to attend this great tournament.
