Three days of spiritual enlightenment

A series of talks, symposiums, experiences and interviews developed the theme of the convention "Keep Seeking First God's Kingdom," which was delivered in isiZulu, English and Sign Language.

Moses Mabhida Stadium in Kwa-Zulu Natal was home to an estimated 24 000 multi-racial delegates of Jehovah’s Witnesses as well as invited members of the public from KZN, which included all in the South and North Coast as well as Inland and extending to Pietermaritzburg.

A series of talks, symposiums, experiences and interviews developed the theme of the convention “Keep Seeking First God’s Kingdom,” which was delivered in isiZulu, English and Sign Language. As part of a Global campaign, local Jehovah’s Witnesses invited all in their neighbourhood to the event by means of a colourful invitation. The cover of the invitation drew attention to A World Government.

This was summed up by three questions, Why do we need one? Is it possible? Who is qualified to rule? The answer to those intriguing questions were given over the three days by an interest-packed program of Bible instruction.
The convention opened on Friday, October 3, with emphasis on Matthew 13:11, ” To you it is granted to understand the Sacred Secrets of the Kingdom.” This was done by means of live interviews and a symposium based on appreciating the thrones of Divine Rulership, which was further developed by a contrast between a century of Kingdom Rule and a century of Satan’s rulership.

As individuals each were helped to examine what must be kept in second place. This pertained to recreation, eating and drinking, health, courtship and weddings, family ties and material pursuits. These life choices impact on an individual’s personal joy and happiness. A modern day drama helped the audience to appreciate Godly wisdom as opposed to man’s thinking. The final part on Friday provided timely guidance for parents to teach their children to love God’s Kingdom based on Psalm 78:3,4.

The attendance on Friday afternoon was 16 521.On Saturday focus was on 2 Thess 1:5 – “Counted worthy of the Kingdom of God.” Three powerfully delivered symposiums brought the Bibles view on, Who will not inherit God’s Kingdom, Who will Inherit God’s Kingdom and The kingdom “Good News has to be preached first.”
The highlight for Saturday was the baptism of 353 new delegates. Three pools were set up with two Jehovah’s Witness doctors assigned to each pool.

Volunteers helped the new delegates that included young, old and disabled. The afternoon session opened with a symposium, entitled “Pursue goals that can help you seek first the Kingdom”.Bible education is an important part in the life of a Christian. It helps one have a mind that thinks in harmony with the will of God.The symposium appropriately addressed how one can make adjustments in their lifestyles to embrace a life of serving Earths new ruler. All 21 600 present enjoyed the concluding talk on Saturday, which gave a brief overview of all that was accomplished over the 100 years of Kingdom rule.

On Sunday the final day of the Convention 23 400 made up the audience. A symposium helped the audience to anticipate future Kingdom blessings like, the wonderful life one can look forward to without the corrupting influence of Satan, the talks included. “A world with one language, Perfect Health, complete harmony with animals, a paradise earth, new scrolls, association with multitudes of resurrected ones and the ability to praise Jehovah perfectly.” Talks on Sunday afternoon developed the scriptural guidance given at Isaiah 35:5-9, which in verse 8 says, “and a highway will be there, Yes a way called the way of holiness.”

The Bible is a book of prophecy and not one word has failed. (Joshua1:2,11; 2:1-24; 7:1, 10-27; 10:1-4; 23:14), and the audience were taken back in time by means of a video drama on large screen reliving the events of the past showing how prophecies were fulfilled.

In conclusion all present were gripped with the final talk which summed up the theme of the Convention entitled “Never be anxious” – Keep seeking first God’s kingdom. Highlights of the Convention included new releases over the three days and a new DVD on Sunday.

Admission was free and no collections were taken. Worldwide, there are over 7,965,954 Witnesses from over 239 lands in 113,823 congregations.
