The Bell Powasol Impi Enduro, held over rough terrain in the Elandskraal area, lived up to its billing as being able to attract some of the country’s top enduro riders.
Held over two days from October 17 to 19, the race followed a torturous course which finished at the historic Elandskraal Church. Two-hundred-and-eight riders came down for the event. The top three riders were separated only by seconds – top young South African Travis Teasdale took top honours with a total time of six hours, 57 minutes and ten seconds.
He was followed four seconds later by Kenneth Gilbert, with Brett Swanepoel hot on their heels in a time of six hours, 57 minutes and 24 seconds.
The organisers, which included local riders Craig van Heerden, Willem Wentzel and their team, said they were fortunate to have brought in the services of renowned photographer Emma Gaitland, who was able to take a range of stunning photographs with the aid of a helicopter. The riders and back-up crew filled up local accommodation in the area, which was already at a premium thanks to the Talana Live weekend. Willem said this will become an annual event in October, and will help to put Dundee on the sporting map.
He also thanked sponsors Orange Grove Dairy, T-Shirts 4 Afrika, Bongani Water, Ngwenyana Water Solutions, Bell and Dreykon (Marc and Leon Klusener).

Craig van Heerden, one of the organisers of the event, congratulates winner Travis Teasdale, who was awarded traditional Zulu garb in line with the 'impi' theme of the race.
