A Remembrance Day MOTH parade and wreath-laying at the War Memorial will take place from 11am on Sunday, November 9. This year’s parade is significant as it marks the centenary of the start of the Great War (known as World War I).
Many wreathes will be laid in memory of the 89 men from the district in this war. While only 53 names are listed on the cenotaph, new research at Talana Museum unearthed another 36. Everyone who would like to lay wreaths must please be at the site by 10:30am – members of the public are welcome to attend.
After the service the MOTH Shellhole will be open and the public is invited for refreshments. Braai packs, fires, and salads will be available.
