Winterton street festival fever
Already known for its vibrant energy, this colourful street festival had all the trappings of a standard street festival
A bigger and better Winterton Street Festival was held on Saturday. The streets came alive with an array of traders who displayed everything from food to novelty items. Festive and lively is how festival-goers described the mood. “Already known for its vibrant energy, this colourful street festival had all the trappings of a standard street festival; great food, plenty to drink, crafts, artwork, clothing and beautiful jewellery,” said one of the organisers.
An estimated 5 000 people were part of the Winterton Street Festival. The Expectations from Ladysmith provided live music and ‘one-woman band’ and puppeteer Wiebke Holm Mikula were popular among the audience. The little ones were kept busy with plenty of entertainment, including a horse and cart.
