Three motor vehicles were involved in the head-on collision early Sunday evening on the R103 near Cornsfields.

2 people died, while 5 others sustained minor and major injuries.

Sharaj Ambulance Services responded to the scene and treated the injured.

No breathalyser tests were done due to the seriousness of the injuries sustained by the surviving drivers.

Some of the accident victims were trapped in their vehicles and had to be cut free. Emergency services battled for close to an hour to free trapped victims, with the ‘jaws of life’ being used to cut through the mangled wreckage.
