Update: Dead cattle on Winterton road

There has been an accident on the R600 Winterton road this morning (Tuesday).

A  heavy motor vehicle ploughed into cattle while farm workers were herding 74 cattle from one farm to another. It is alleged that the driver lost control of the truck while going downhill.

Eight cattle are dead so far, and many more injured. Three are seriously injured.  All the dead animals are stud bulls, with a value of over R500,000.

Dead cattle are scattered along the roadside.

Emergency personnel are still on scene. Police and the farmer are still assessing the injuries, and more cattle may have to be put down.
