Elderly woman robbed at gunpoint

A 60-year-old woman was recently robbed of R20 000 by two gun-wielding men.
Captain Shooz Magudulela, police spokesperson, said the woman had withdrawn cash from a bank, and drove to go to Voortrekker Street with her granddaughter.
Her granddaughter left the car to run errands and while she was waiting for her to return, she was robbed.
“While waiting, two men stopped next to the car and pointed a firearm at her. They then took the cash which had been between the seats,” Captain Magudulela said.
The robbers fled in a grey BMW without number plates.
Further investigations continue.
With the imminent festive season, police urge the community to be cautious with money and valuable items.
Captain Magudulela advised the following:
1. Never leave large sums of cash unattended in a car.
2. Always have a person to guard your car when you have cash.
3. Criminals might be watching you when you withdraw money. It is important to check if your vehicle is properly locked.
4. It is also imperative to remove all valuables from your vehicle and to ensure that nothing of value is visible.
