Still no resolution on Korb, Ihlenfeldt murders
“There is no closure for our grief,”
In June, the Newcastle Advertiser reported on the lack of progress into the murder investigations of both Dean Korb and Greg Ihlenfeldt.
In an attempt to create awareness surrounding their plight, family and friends of the victims held a candlelight vigil in front of the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court.
Attempts to learn the truth regarding the lack of progress in the investigations was met with evasive and lacklustre responses from the Newcastle SAPS.
Despite the police maintaining proper course of investigation was followed, the accused in the case of Dean Korb still has not yet appeared in court.
Paul Korb, his father, told the media that he simply wanted to have his day in court.
“There is no closure for our grief,” he said.
The similarities between the cases are striking. In the case of Greg Ihlenfeldt, the family carry no knowledge of anyone being charged with the murder, however police maintained in a written response to questions that a person had been charged.
The void left by the bereavement cannot yet be filled with justice for the Korb and Ihlenfeldt family. However, the appointment of the latest investigating officer at the beginning of the year suggests there is light at the end of the tunnel.
