Stolen bike recovered in field
So far a suspected syndicate has stolen 67 bikes this year alone and has allegedly been hiding the bikes in fields, coming back a few days later to collect them.
A motorcycle that was stolen earlier this month from Coronation Avenue, has been found in a field, hidden underneath a pile of grass.
Pieter Booyens who lives in a home adjacent to the field, found the bike while searching among the tall grass for stolen tools.
“I was searching for tools that were stolen from a neighbour’s garage,” said Mr Booyens. “I saw something yellow out of the corner of my eye. When I went over to investigate, I saw the bike.”
Mr Booyens immediately contacted the police, who rushed to the scene.
It was determined the Honda CBR400 had been reported stolen some 11 days before.
“I have asked the guys who cut the grass a million times to please make a plan with this long grass growing right by the houses,” said Mr Booyens. “The skelms come here often and hide.”

A police source confirmed that so far four bikes have been recovered under similar circumstances.
