Saturday afternoon treat for seniors
Sit back and enjoy…these were the words from Estcourt Christian Academy staff and learners to the senior citizens who attended a special tea recently
The afternoon’s event was to show appreciation to the senior citizens and to remind them of how special they are. In the audience were Pastor Dermott and Pastor Glenda who were the founding members of the Estcourt Christian Academy pre-school and school.
They shared their story about how they were inspired to build a school within the church during a visit to the United States of America. Their dream became a reality when ECA opened the doors to its first class in 1998. Pastor Jon Kuhn reminded all their seniors present that they are respected and loved. He told the audience about 84-year-old Anna whose story is told in the gospel of Luke, encouraging the senior citizens to use her story as a model for old age.
Prizes were handed out to lucky draw winners as well as the oldest person present who was Mr Hunt and the couple that was married for the longest, who are Mr and Mrs Driemeyer who share 55 years of marriage. Thereafter the seniors were treated to scrumptious snacks and tea.
