Water restrictions finally over
People are still encouraged to use water sparingly

Water restrictions are over with immediate effect.
According to uThukela Deputy Water Operations Manager Glen Singh, although the river is not flowing quite as well as they would like, it is good enough at this stage to lift the water restrictions. This means that people can now water their gardens, wash their cars and fill up theirĀ pools without worrying about being fined.
However, people are still encouraged to use water sparingly.
Water restrictions were initially implemented due to the dry spell we were experiencing, and not enough rain falling in the catchment area. More rain was needed in the catchment area so that the Klip River could be completely flushed out and water could begin to be extracted from the river again.
