‘A marked decrease in crime’
In the past week alone, three cases of stolen property were resolved through the assistance of the security guards in the area.
According to reports, there has been a marked reduction in crime across the board in areas of the Central Business District.
This is the general consensus of businesses in the areas covered by the ‘Safe CBD Project’.

“Aside from those three attempted cases, there has been no other incidents,” said project chairman, Yousuf Randeree.
The objects in question had been cellphones and chains.
Mr Randeree invited residents to be a part of the change, as he explained the future steps the organisation would be committing themselves to.
“The CPF (Community Police Forum) have backed us in partnership with the police to help put an end to crime in the area.”
Statistically, the crime stats have shown a decrease since the projects inception, but it is still too early to really decide whether the project is working or not.
To view the progress of the project, Mr Randeree invited the community to participate in CPF meeting next week Thursday, December 11, or by attending the project meeting on December 18.
