Suspected explosion at substation leaves residents in the dark

A source claimed that the matter was already under investigation and the officials hoped to restore power to the affected areas soon.

A sudden power outage has left certain areas without power.

Reports of an explosion near the substations have been unconfirmed and the cause of the incident is still unclear.

An official from the municipality claimed the power outage was caused after the breaker tripped and locked out at the Signal Hill Substation.

The sections of town  that have been affected are Lennoxton, Paradise, town central (inclusive of the CBD)  and the townland’s substations. This has in turn affected Barry Hertzog Park and certain areas of Hutten Heights.

It is unclear at this time when the substation will be repaired.

“We are still investigating and isolating the fault,” claimed the source.

With the power outage occurring in the morning many residents were left furious because of the effect it had on their morning rituals before work.
