After years of lobbying and angry letters to MECs, Mayors et al, the much-maligned Dundee airfield is to finally get a boost.
Council has accepted – without question – a proposal from a mining group that is to start operations in the area, to invest R1-million a year, for the next three years into the airfield, for specifically fencing off the property.
The mining, group Umsobomvu Coal, is investing the money as part of their social and labour plan. There have been constant complaints of cattle and people straying on to the runway and local pilots are pleased that a new fence may just help to curb the problem.
